Upstream Solutions for Resident, Faculty, and Physician Development

Listen Now

Building a more resilient medical staff is something we can all get behind. Join our Healthcare Experience Foundation team in this week’s edition of the Healthcare Experience Matters Podcast as we share strategies that we have employed to support physicians.

Today’s panel of speakers includes HXF President and Co-Founder Katie Owens, and HXF Physician Coaches Drs. George Mayzell and Rob Minkes. Drs. Mayzell and Minkes bring decades of clinical and executive experience to the table for this discussion aimed at helping physicians in the early stages of their career.

This broadcast also includes highly relevant content for supporting physicians and building the leaders of tomorrow. It focuses on training clinicians on non-clinical aspects of medicine that are critical to patient care but not typically taught in medical school.

These non-clinical aspects include improving leaderships skills in areas like emotional intelligence, empathy/compassion, engaging in healthy conflict, giving/receiving feedback, and teamwork.

Our panel’s discussion provides valuable insights into the challenges facing healthcare providers today and the strategies that can help clinicians build the skills they need to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.

It is our goal to help promote better patient outcomes and a more positive healthcare experience for all.

Burnout is growing amongst residents, faculty, and physicians. Alarmingly, it is jeopardizing our ability to ensure each patient receives the best healthcare experience.

“We all know burnout/resiliency is a huge issue starting with medical students and residents. Any tools we can give folks to help mitigate some of that risk is highly valuable and will show great returns in the long run,” Dr. Mayzell said.

When we can open the dialogue and have discussions like this, we are truly doing our part in working towards building a more resilient medical staff that finds joy and purpose in their work.
