Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) with Matthew Whitaker, PhD

Listen Now

Listen Now:

Matthew Whitaker, PhD, joins our Healthcare Experience Matters Podcast this week for a timely discussion about Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI).

Dr. Whitaker is a faculty member here at the Healthcare Experience Foundation (HXF) and he is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Diamond Strategies, LLC.

Addressing health disparities and the social determinants of health are other crucial topics covered in today’s conversation with Dr. Whitaker. He approaches his work from a social scientist background and being a historian has given him a unique perspective on his calling to advance many of the efforts outlined in today’s interview.

“As I completed my education, particularly in history and sociology, I learned that there are a lot of things that happen after we are born that are out of our control,” he said.

Working as a faculty member with HXF presents Dr. Whitaker with the opportunity to help work on these issues and more.

“This includes what zip code we’re born into and the social determinants of health that affect our life expectancy and the quality of life while we are alive. No one should get sick and die because of what zip code they’re born into,” he told us.
